Kumarakom, Kerala: Two minor girls from Canada, holidaying in Kumarakom, were allegedly molested by a security staff of a hotel, raising concerns over the safety of foreign tourists visiting Kerala.
Police said the sisters, aged 12 and 13, came here and stayed at the hotel two days ago.
Shyju Varghese, the security guard of the hotel, allegedly attempted to molest the girls in the hotel's billiards room on Wednesday, following which they raised an alarm.
Varghese has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Peter John, father of the girls, the police said.
Following the incident, the family cut short their stay and left the place.
The accused was produced before the Judicial First class Magistrate and later granted bail.
This is the second incident of molestation involving foreign tourists in the state since the beginning of the year.
On New Year's Eve in Kochi, some tourists were allegedly molested at the Kochi beach, prompting police to take a suo motu case.
