Capital buzzes with excitement for marathon

New Delhi: More than 25, 000 people from Delhi will participate in the Airtel Delhi half marathon in the capital on Sunday. But before the running begins there was a Friday night party held to celebrate the event.

Actor Rahul Bose and India's Olymipc hero Vijender Singh were amongst the many present who lit up the evening before their big run on Sunday .

“The whole of Delhi will be running, we’ll have loads of fun, I’m all fit and will run the full marathon” says Olympic bronze medalist Vijender Singh.

“Its like a community gets together its no Hindu or Muslim it’s a different cause and it’s great,” says actor Rahul Bose. I always win the Mumbai marathon,” adds Rahul Bose.

And as stars celebrate, around 25,000 delhiites get set for the $ 2,10,000 Airtel Delhi half marathon.

“This time around I am lucky enough to run the marathon and I am excited,” says a marathon participant. “With all the bomb scare around, this is a good event to put your fear aside and have a blast,” says another.

Apart from the 21 km half marathon, there will be a 6km long Great Delhi run, a 4km senior citizens' run and 2.5km wheelchair event with a total time span of four hours.
