7-yr-old made to strip in school | Your Say | The Law

New Delhi: Friday began like any other day for seven-year-old Rakhi. She woke up, dressed and went for her classes at Delhi’s Star Shine Public School in Uttam Nagar.

Rakhi had forgotten to finish her homework the previous day, so she expected to be pulled up, perhaps even caned.

What she didn't expect was being made to take off her clothes in front of her classmates.

“First she made me take off my clothes, made me stand on the chair and made the class clap. Then she tied me with a rope and attempted to drag me around. But I held on to the chair,” a traumatised Rakhi says.

Rakhi's parents only found out what had happened on Saturday, when the girl’s mother was getting her ready for school.

“When I was getting her ready for school the next morning, she said she wont go as she’d been beaten up and made to strip,” says Rakhi’s mother Sumitra Devi.

Rakhi says her classmates had insulted and mocked her all day. Her father has filed a police complaint against the teacher and the school.

“We went to school but neither the teacher nor the principal was there. Then crowds gathered there and we got an FIR lodged,” says Rakhi’s father, Gopal Das.

The police have registered a case against the teacher involved for outraging the modesty of the girl. The teacher, a 20-year-old woman, is out on bail.

CNN-IBN tried contacting school authorities but the principal of the school was untraceable and even the police did not gave the clear picture of the case.
