Mumbai: The terror plan was made in Pakistan and the terrorists landed through sea. It's quite clear that they came with a definite plan to kill.

Captured alive by Mumbai police while a shooting spree from inside this stolen car, Mohammad Ajmal Mohammad Amir Kasav is the only terrorist captured alive after holding Mumbai ransom for more than 60 hours. Kasav holds the key to cracking the riddle of the who and why of the deadly attack on Mumbai and he is singing.

Kasav told interrogators that the group was made to memorise maps of the targets as well as the layout of the two hotels they attacked and took over.

Maharashtra deputy chief minister and state home minister R R Patil told media that the group had been instructed to kill about 5000 people and they had carried enough ammunition and weapons to carry out the carnage orders.

Once they were inside Mumbai, they fanned out in groups of two there was no communication among the groups. In the little interaction he had with the others, he says it revealed they had a heavy Punjabi accent.

They had set out for India on the October 15 aboard a Karachi merchant ship, heavily armed.

Around October 18, they spotted Indian marine security vessels and threw overboard some of their explosives in panic.

They later hijacked an Indian trawler and killed its crew before reaching Mumbai.

They took away some of the crew's belongings to use as disguise. Once in Mumbai, they took taxis to reach their target locations. Throughout, they carried their AK47s, AK 56s, hand grenades, RDX, live rounds and full magazines evading detection.

Kasav also told the interrogators the chilling detail that they were instructed to gone on killing till they themselves died. The order was to create maximum chaos and panic while targeting life and property in Mumbai.
