Maruti WagonR cheaper by Rs 35,000

New Delhi: There is more good news for people planning to buy cars. After the decision by the Central Government on Friday to cut prices of petrol and diesel for the first time in 22 months, most of the auto companies are lining up discounts and schemes to lure customers.

Car maker Ford has announced that it will cut the price of its Fiesta (EXI petrol) model by Rs 91,000 while Fiesta (diesel) will cost Rs 51,000 less.

Hyundai has cut the prices of Santro, i10, Accent and Verna by 12,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 12,000 each respectively.

Hyundai Santro GL is now priced at less than Rs 3 lakh.

India's largest car maker Maruti Udyog Ltd too has announced a price cut.

Maruti WagonR is cheaper by Rs 35,000 while Alto is cheaper by Rs 15,000. However, there is price cut for Swift Diesel and Dzire.

Tata Motors too has reduced the prices of its cars. Tata Indica is cheaper by Rs 30,000 while Indigo (Excl CS) will now cost Rs 40,000 less. Tata Sumo Grande's price has been cut by Rs 65,000.

General Motors models Spark and Aveo will cost Rs 58,000 and Rs 53,000 less respectively.

Other car makers are expected to announce price cuts soon.
