Noida:A criminal case was registered against Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) after a management student died after hitting a pole it had put up in Sector 37, police said.
Gaurav Viz, a student of MBA at IILM College at Greater Noida, was killed on Friday midnight after his bike hit the pole erected in the middle of the road, to carry out its civil work for the beautification of its station in this sector. Although the work was suspended during night, the pole, which was barely visible, was not removed.
Viz was taken to local Bhardwaj Hospital where he died of his injuries.
His brother Ajay Viz, who works in Mumbai, rushed to Noida and lodged a complaint against the DMRC.
The sector-39 police registered the complaint under sections 304A and 427 of IPC.
"We are investigating the case. Prima facie it seems the DMRC's fault but we would initiate action after thorough investigation," Superintendent of Police (City) A.K. Tripathi said.
