Andhra Pradesh cash-for-bail: Two more judges arrested

Hyderabad: Two more judges - Justice D Prabhakar and Justice K Laxminarsimha Rao - have been suspended by the Andhra Pradesh High Court for their alleged involvement in granting bail to mining scam accused and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. Justice D Prabhakar and Justice K Laxminarsimha Rao and have also been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Earlier Justice Pattabhi Raman Rao had been arrested on in the cash-for-bail case. Rao's son T Ravi Chandra and a retired judge, Chalapthi Rao, have also been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in the case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already carried out raids at the residence of the suspended judge in connection with the cash-for-bail case.

Rao reportedly took Rs 6 crore from Reddy to grant him bail in the illegal mining scam involving the Obulapuram Mining Company.

The judge was suspended after the CBI produced evidence of him taking the bribe from the Reddy, who was a minister in the Karnataka government.
