New Delhi: The wait has just got longer for nearly two lakh MBA aspirants who took the Common Admission Test for admission to various business schools, including the prestigious IIMs.
After much speculation over the results being declared on Tuesday, the authorities at IIM Lucknow made clear that the final results will be declared only on either January 5 or January 6.
While individual CAT scores will be out on Tuesday itself (between 1700 hrs and 1900 hrs), the ranked list - that will determine whether the candidate would make it to IIMs - will come out by the said dates.
CAT is held every year for admissions to six IIMs and 80 other management institutes in the country.
Considered a passport to six-figure salaries and corporate paradise, the test was taken by more than 1,90,000 students across India this year.
Despite the eligibility criteria being hiked to 50 per cent marks from this academic session onwards, the number of applicants went up by 20 per cent.
CAT is considered the toughest among MBA examinations and consists of three segments – (1) Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, (2) Data Interpretation and Logical Ability and (3) Quantitative Ability.
To qualify for the interview and Group Discussion, a general category students need to score 25 per cent in each subject, while total aggregate should be 33 per cent.
A candidate from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) or physically disabled category will have to score at least 17 per cent and an aggregate of 33 per cent.
