Manisha Mahaldar, CNN-IBN

Mumbai: After his much appreciated performance as a guitarist in Rock On! Arjun Rampal returns to the big screen in the forthcoming Sanjay Dutt starrer EMI. CNN-IBN correspondent Manisha Mahaldar chats with the actor about his matching steps with Malaika Arora, his world tour with Shah Rukh Khan and his most challenging role yet.

Here are the excerpts from the interview –

CNN-IBN: You are doing quite a sizzling number opposite Malaika Arora in EMI, how was the experience of dancing and were you a touch insecure that you were sharing the screen space with one of the best Bollywood’s best item dancers.

Arjun Rampal: No, I was really very happy. You would not like to dance with Malaika. I think she is very sexy, she is very beautiful. And, I said that you please do all the dancing, I would just watch it.

CNN-IBN: Take us through your role in EMI.

Arjun Rampal: In EMI, I play a character called Rian Briganza, who is a DJ and who likes all the good things in life but doesn’t want to pay for them so he knows how to misuse his credit card and that lands him into a lot of trouble.

CNN-IBN: You are again a part of Shahrukh Khan’s Temptation Relay tour, tell me what are you really going to do to enthrall the masses.

Arjun Rampal: Well, yes the shows which we are doing in markets, which I have not explored are – we are going to Germany and we will do three shows in Germany and all the shows are back to back shows and we are doing one more show we did in Barcelona. And, I hope it will be great fun.

CNN-IBN: Tell me which has been the most challenging role and why?

Arjun Rampal: In Om Shanti Om I was playing a young guy who goes all the way to 60s so it was very tedious with the make up and again it requires an attitude of, body language of an older person and then in Rock On he is a very silent character and so it is something which is very internal and you have to relate, channel your whole performance internally.
