Click to play videoJaipur: In a major breakthrough in the Bhanwari Devi case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has found what could possibly be the remains of Bhanwari. Divers found a gunny bag from the Indira Gandhi canal link near Jaloda village near Jodhpur.
The contents of the bag that can possibly be the nurse's remains and a sharp edged weapon have been sent for forensic examination. Search teams have also recovered two pistols.
The CBI team was searching the canal and the area for more evidence. The Rajasthan administration has stopped water flow in the Rajiv Gandhi canal to enable collection of evidence.
The CBI Director has written to the Rajasthan DGP thanking him for the support and cooperation of the state police in the case.
Bhanwari Devi went missing on September 1, 2010 after she had threatened to expose that Congress MLA Malkhan Singh fathered her daughter.
According to the CBI, Bhawari's husband Amarchand knew about her abduction in advance. Malkhan told him to ensure that she came alone to the Billara area. They wanted to kidnap her to ensure that she stayed away from the Mahapanchayat on September 8, 2011. For this, her husband was paid Rs 10 lakh by Malkhan Singh.
The CBI is now trying to find out whether the plan included murdering Bhanwari after she was abducted.
Meanwhile, key accused Mahipal Maderna and Parasram Bishnoi have been remanded to judicial custody till January 20.
Earlier, the location where the Bishna Gang burnt the body of Bhanwari Devi has been identified. Bhanwari's body was burnt near Osian village. The murder was planned by sacked Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna and Malkhan Singh with the help of Sahi Ram, who, after kidnapping and murdering Bhanwari in a car, gave the body to the Bishna Gang.
The leader of the gang who disposed off Bhanwari's body Bishna Ram was also arrested on Wednesday.
