New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered two preliminary enquiries (PE) in the 'missing' coal files from the coal ministry. One PE relates to files from the 2006-09 period while the other is for the files that are missing from the 1993-2005 period.
Earlier on Monday, the Coal Ministry had submitted its report to the CBI but the agency was not satisfied with the report. CBI sources said that the without the missing files, the probe in the coalgate case is heading to a 'dead end'.
Sources also said that the files will help the CBI understand how coal blocks were allotted to undeserving companies.
