Kolkata:The CBI is preparing to move a court in West Bengal seeking permission to reopen the case relating to theft of Rabindranth Tagore's Nobel medallion
The agency now claims that it has stumbled upon new leads into the theft case and will be moving Bolpur court in West Bengal to reopen the case. The case was closed nearly a year ago after CBI failed to make headway.
Meanwhile, one of the suspects in the case, Jiban Bagdi, was stabbed to death on Thursday morning. Both the CBI and state CID interrogated him after the theft.
The Nobel medallion and 47 other memorabilia were stolen from Santiniketan on March 25, 2004. The CID initially investigated it and then it was handed over to the CBI.
