CBI raids 24 places over bribery charges against Customs, DRI officials

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday raided top Customs and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials over bribery charges. CBI raids are on at 24 places in four states following the charges.

CBI sources say some high ranking officials were under scrutiny. Raids are on in Kolkata, Delhi, Punjab and Maharashtra.

A private firm had recently alleged that the officials asked it to pay a bribe of Rs 20 lakh. The firm Universal Agency was allegedly asked to pay a bribe in order to get permit for exporting goods to Nepal from Kolkata.
