Bangalore: For Bangalore-based Aparna Murlidhar and her classmates, it was the best day of their lives. When the CBSE class X results were put up, it was Aparna's name that was highlighted for the amazing 99 per cent she scored.
Says Aparna, "I expected above 95 per cent. I have kept both options open for myself - engineering or medical."
The overall performance is excellent this year, but the Kendriya Vidyalayas have done exceptionally well. Their score-cards are dotted with 98, 97 and 96 per cent. So what does it take to score so high?
"A lot of hard work," says Aparna.
And the percentages talk of turning dreams into reality.
Says another student, Reshma Shenoi, "I want to become an engineer - hardware or software."
Adds a student Lakshita Kaushik, "Because there's a lot of money in it and publicity."
A few years ago, the Karnataka state board announced the highest success rate ever in the class X results. Now the CBSE results proudly display their side of the success story. However, the main challenge and the tough days are yet to come as the race for the admissions to the pre-university college has only begun
