However, some believe that the fashion designer is only paying the price of being a celebrity.
"This is a lesson that we should never help the police," Fashion designer, Manish Arora said.
Social activist, Nafisa Ali said, "She holds the key to keeping the murdered so she is being systematically targeted and her image being tarnished. Her credibility is being played with."
While Bina Ramani's arrest is seen by many as celeb-baiting, others believe it's a step forward in a case that's been languishing for over seven years.
But either way relief for the Ramani’s seem nowhere in sight.
