New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi claims marine scientists have proof of a manmade bridge at the Sethusamudram canal site.
Bhupendra Chaubey: Mr Joshi, you are being charged with politicizing the Sethusamudram issue. Are you trying to do that?
MM Joshi: Not the least. On the contrary if you had seen the debate in Rajya Sabha, leaders of Shiv Sena, AIADMK and even RJD said Ram Setu should be preserved as a historical monument. Leaders from socialist parties said it's a historical monument. Marine archaeologists have now come out clearly that coral stones found on the top of this bridge are of not this region at all.
Bhupendra Chaubey: What do you make of the Centre's affidavit in the Supreme Court, saying that the Ram Setu doesn't exist?
MM Joshi: Well, the Central Government has its own compulsions. One compulsion is from the Communist parties and the other from DMK. They have to play to the tunes of these two parties. I say it's not only minority appeasement but totally succumbing totally and unabashedly to minority demand. By minority I mean the minority in the Government.
