New Delhi: The Centre has filed a plea before the Supreme Court seeking that khap panchayats be monitored. The Centre appealed to the apex court to put in place a mechanism that will monitor the violation of women's rights by khap panchayats.
The SC asked khap panchayats to clarify their position on inter-caste marriage.
The apex court further issued notices to the Senior Superintendents of Police of Jind, Rohtak and Baghpat for a pilot project that is about to begin in Haryana.
