New Delhi: The Ministry of Rural Development has developed a portal to ensure transparency, accountability and wider dissemination of information.

The citizen-friendly portal provides a gateway to about 150 websites at national, international, state and district levels, including the websites of the three departments of the Ministry – Department of Rural Development, Department of Wastelands Development and Department of Drinking Water Supply – websites of NREGA, PMGSY, BPL Census 2002, CAPART, NIRD, NRRDA and Bharat Nirman.

These websites provide details of schemes of the Ministry of Rural Development, district and state-wise physical and financial releases, progress, sanction orders, etc. which are updated on daily basis.

Apart from this, news related to the Ministry of Rural Development, details of circulars to the state government and implementing agencies, information regarding events, letters, notices, important meetings, etc. are regularly uploaded on these sites.

To provide marketing support to the self-help groups, formed under SGSY, the product-specific details showcasing the rural products for national and international markets have also been made available in the portal.

A system has also been put in place by which all the 600 DRDAs of the country have to report their monthly physical and financial progress about all programmes through online reporting system. The progress about any programme up to a particular month is also accessible from this portal.
