Chamarajanagar is not Pakistan: Karnataka CM Gowda

MYSORE: Continuing the “tradition” of chief ministers refraining from visiting Chamarajanagar town was D V Sadananda Gowda who on Friday was on an inspection visit of relief works at Kollegal and Hannur. The prevailing belief is that incumbent ministers visiting the district will lose their position within six months. The accursed tag is due to the fact that five chief ministers were unseated after their visit to Chamarajanagar, which is affected by severe drought.
However, the Chief Minister maintained that he was visiting Kollegal and Hannur as per his itinerary. “I will visit Chamarajanagar whenever the situation arises in the next couple of months. Chamarajanagar is not Pakistan; I do not believe in such superstitions,” the Chief Minister said.
Although Chamarajanagar and Gundlupet taluks were affected by the drought, the Chief Minister saw to it that the inspections were conducted in villages en route to the M M Hills.
Sadananda Gowda met people en route to Hannur and M M Hills where he will stay overnight, review the ongoing drought relief works and also chair a meeting on development works in M M Hills.
