Chandigarh: The police on Friday released CCTV footage of the robbery in Tanishq showroom in Chandigarh.
The CCTV footage shows robbers dressed in UP police uniforms, burgling the store. Jewellery worth Rs 15 crore was stolen as the shelves were wiped clean.
One of the police uniforms was later found near the showroom. Panchkula and Haryana police are looking at the possible involvement of the Badri gang. Rajesh Badri, the ringleader of the gang is the most wanted criminal of Haryana police and is said to be active in Uttar Pradesh at present.
Unidentified persons looted a Tanishq showroom on the outskirts of the city in the wee hours on Wednesday, police said.
The masked persons, suspected to be ten to fifteen in numbers, barged into the showroom in Manimajra in the city on Wednesday morning and decamped with the entire jewellery there, they said.
This after they tied the hands of the two guards posted outside and finally pushed them to the nearby cremation ground. Reportedly the robbers cleared off the entire showroom in a time span of just an hour and a half.
