Chauhan orders probe into saint's self-immolation act

Bhopal: Rubaria village in Madhya Pradesh has become a place of pilgrimage now. A 72-year-old saint immolated himself on Wednesday in this village.

Men, women and children from nearby areas are flocking in large numbers to take a look at the spot where the bizarre incident took place.

“The baba was in flames through out the day and all of us from our village are going for darshan,” says a villager, Ramesh Gurjar.

But the state government has not appreciated this act. The station house officer Ravi Bhadoria has been suspended for failing to take preventive actions when the saint burnt himself to death in front of him.

However, the Subdivisional Officer MP Sharma, who was caught on camera, respectfully recording the entire incident on his mobile, has escaped with milder punishment.

The government has also ordered a magisterial enquiry into the incident.

“There are two sides to the story. We have ordered an enquiry. Let the findings come then only I will be able to say anything,” says Chief Minister Shivraj Chauhan.
