New Delhi: How rich are former Haryana CM Om Prakash Cahutala and his family? The family, in affidavits filed before the Election Commission, has said they own assets worth Rs 18 crore. The CBI says the family is worth Rs 1,467 crore.

The CBI is still counting the family’s wealth after raiding several properties they own on Thursday. The agency says the family owns a multi-storey housing complex in Teja Khera in Sirsa worth Rs 55 crore, a plot worth Rs 35 crore on Barnala Road, Sirsa, three plots in Gurgaon Phase V worth Rs 150 crore, Regent Hotel and Bulbul Restaurant in Karol Bagh worth Rs 120 crore and, Regent Tower and Mall in Karol Bagh worth Rs 180 crore.

These are just a few of the properties the family owns, says CBI. The properties and assets were acquired when Chautala was chief minister, it alleges.

Only a few properties have been legally declared. “Hotel Raunak, Regent Continental, Regent Square and Regent Tower—these are declared properties which the Chautalas own in Karol Bagh, one of the most expensive commercial areas of Delhi," said CBI officials.

Officials said it would take them time to value the exact worth of the family. Chautala, who is convalescing in the US after a surgery, and his family have alleged that the raids are a witch-hunt.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda denied the allegations and said he had nothing to do with the CBI investigation.
