Chennai: Pointing out that violent forms of protests and vandalising public property was antithesis to the teachings of Islam, Chief Imam of the Makkah Masjid, Moulana Shamsudeen Qasimi, on Wednesday appealed to the Muslim community to put and end to the anti-US agitations in the city. In a statement, he said the purpose of releasing the movie Innocence of Muslim, which contained alleged anti-Islam content, on Youtube was to provoke the Islamic community world wide.

“They want to stoke the emotions of Muslims and show the repercussions as evidence to their campaign showing the community as a violent one,” he observed and added the other motto was to gain cheap popularity for the movie which has been neglected by even the public in the US.

Therefore, he said that the agitations held to date was enough and urged that Muslims should henceforth take up a campaign to tell the world about the true nature of Propher Mohammed and his sacrifices and contributions to the human society.
