New Delhi: The Chennai police on Wednesday summoned the Sun Network chief Kalanidhi Maran after film distributors filed a complaint against the Sun Network. The distributors have accused him of cheating and criminal intimidation.

Kalanidhi Maran is former textiles minister Dayanidhi's Maran's elder brother.

Earlier DMK leader M K Azhagiri, elder son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, had filed a defamation case against the Sun TV network for claiming that he was responsible for the attack on a newspaper office in which three persons died.

Azhagiri sent a legal notice to the Sun TV's MD Kalanidhi Maran, who owns the Dinakaran newspaper and is Karunanidhi’s grandnephew.

The newspaper’s management has filed a police complaint against Azhagiri, who alleged in the notice that Sun TV was broadcasting 'derogatory and defamatory' reports against him.
