Chepauk, a hub of Indian cricket records

During their eight-wicket win over Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, India set a host of records at a storied venue in which they already share a great history. From the highest score by an Indian to the maximum centuries at a venue, the MA Chidambaram Stadium - or Chepauk - has been one of the topmost cricket grounds in the country.

Here is a look at the various records at the ground:

# Chennai witnessed India's first ever Test victory which came against England in 1951-52. India defeated England by an innings and eight runs.

From the highest score by an Indian to the maximum centuries at a venue, the MA Chidambaram Stadium has been one of the topmost cricket grounds in the country.

# Indian captain MS Dhoni registered the highest Test score in history by a wicketkeeper-captain. Dhoni is also the seventh wicketkeeper in the world to register 200.

# Dhoni's 224 is the third highest individual Test score in Chennai after Virender Sehwag's 319 against Pakistan and Sunil Gavaskar's 236 not out against West Indies in 1983.

# The first-ever Ranji Trophy match was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. In the match, the slow left-arm orthodox AG Ram Singh claimed 11 wickets to guide Madras to victory over Mysore.

# The second tied Test match in cricket's history was also played at Chepauk, between India and Australia from September 18-22 in 1986. Kapil Dev and Dean Jones shared the Man-of-the-Match award.

# Sehwag's 319 against South Africa on March 26, 2008 is the highest Test score at the venue.

# Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar's 194 against India is the highest ODI score at the venue. He achieved this milestone on May 21, 1997.

# The highest Test total by England also came on the ground when they plundered 652 for 7 against India on January 13, 1985. England won the match by nine wickets.

# England registered victory by the highest margin here on February 10, 1934. They pummeled India by 202 runs.

# India have played 31 matches on this venue, having won 13, lost six, drawn one and tied 11.

# India also hold the record for the lowest score at the ground when England restricted them to just 83 on January 14, 1977.

# The best match bowling figures of 16 for 136 belong to Narendra Hirwani on this ground.

# Rahul Dravid scored his 10,000th Test run on this ground.

# India's 387 for 4 in the fourth innings against England in December 2008 became the highest successful run chase in India.

# Gavaskar (1018 runs) has scored the most number of runs at Chepaul in Tests followed by Tendulkar (970) and Gundappa Vishwanath (785).

# Anil Kumble has taken 48 Test wickets at Chepauk, followed by Kapil Dev (40) and Harbhajan Singh (39).

# At this venue, Tendulkar scored his 15th Test century in a winning cause for India. He scored 155 not out to guide India to a thumping 179-run victory over Australia on March 6, 1998.

# Tendulkar has scored more runs at Chepauk than any other venue in India - 970 in ten Tests, His average is 88.18 here.

# Shane Warne surpassed Muttiah Muralitharan's tally of 532 Test wickets on October 15, 2004. He achieved this feat after dismissing Irfan Pathan. It was his 533rd Test wicket scalp in his 114th Test match.

# At Chepauk, India defeated Australia by two wickets to clinch the Border-Gavaskar trophy on March 22, 2001.

# Tendulkar holds the record of scoring the most centuries (five) at Chepauk.

# Erapalli Prasanna holds the record of being out for maximum ducks (four).
