Chennai: A city court has issued summons to actors Dharmendra and his son Sunny Deol, directing them to appear before it on October 11 in connection with a cheque bouncing case.
The summons were issued by the Seventh Georgetown Metropolitan Magistrate Court on a complaint filed by R Bhagavandoss Bajaj, represented by his power agent, Amithkumar of Egmore.
According to the complainant, Sunny Deol, one of the directors of Sunny Sounds Private Limited in Mumbai, had borrowed Rs 10 lakh from Bajaj in April last year for the film Big Brother, assuring that the amount would be repaid after the release of the film.
After failing to repay the amount for a year, despite repeated reminders, Sunny issued two cheques for Rs 5 lakh each and the complainant deposited them in a bank in Chennai on May 14.
Since the cheques had bounced, the complainant sent a legal notice to Sunny Deol and four other directors of the firm, including Dharmendra.
As there was no reply to the notices, Bajaj moved the court seeking action.
