New Delhi: India's batting sensation Cheteshwar Pujara and rejuvenated Test spinner R Ashwin played pivotal roles in India's innings win over Australia in Hyderabad, and have now moved to career-best rankings in the ICC's latest update for Test players.
Pujara, 25, scored his second Test double-century (204) to claim the Man-of-the-Match award after the completion of the second Test on Tuesday and has moved 12 places to No. 11 on the ICC's rankings for Test batsmen. Pujara now has 740 ratings points.
Offspinner Ashwin followed a 12-wicket haul in the first Test in Chennai with six wickets in Hyderabad - five in Australia's second innings - and broke into the top ten of the ICC's bowler rankings for the first time in his Test career and now occupies eighth place. Ashwin has accumulated 734 ratings points. His team-mate, the left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, is one spot below despite not having featured in the series so far.
Pujara\'s 204 in Hyderabad has moved him up 12 spots in the rankings for Test batsmen, while Ashwin has entered the top 10 with a new career-high rating.
Sachin Tendulkar is the next best ranked Indian batsman after Pujara, sitting at 19th place with 661 ratings points.
