Chhattisgarh: Congress leader alleges attack by BJP worker

Jagdalpur: Reports of clashes between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers have been reported from Jagdalpur where Congress leaders Samu Kashyap and Rekhchandra have been injured. This as polling is underway in Chhattisgarh on Monday.

Kashyap has alleged that the supporters of BJP leader Santosh Bafna attacked him on Sunday night and he was beaten with sticks and was threatened to leave politics. Kashyap along with his injured supporters has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

"Last night, BJP leader Santosh Bafna along with supporters came in six vehicles and overtook our cars. They beat us with sticks and threatened to kill us," alleged Samu Kashyap.

The Congress has alleged that the BJP can do anything to stay in power. "Our candidate is very able and efficient. Our candidate was stopped on the road and attacked. They can do anything to stay in power," Congress spokesperson Bhakta Charan Das said.

Meanwhile, denying the allegations, the BJP put the onus back on the Congress. "It is wrong allegation by Congress. Samu Kashyap and others were distributing money. They saw our cars arriving and started smashing the windows," BJP MLA from Jagdalpur Santosh Bafna said.
