"Akhilesh is a young Chief Minister. He has started his career well. He and his team willl do the best to bring Uttar Pradesh up in every single way. I assure the Chief Minister that the Government of India is committed to stand by Uttar Pradesh in its development," Chidambaram said.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has made it clear that he won't withdraw support to the UPA government as he cannot support 'communal parties', but added that the Congress itself will go for elections this year itself. Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, Mulayam said, "We don't want the Bharatiya Janata Party and their allies to bring the government down. Why should we bring the government down for eight to nine months?"
Calling the Congress 'cheat', Mulayam said, "They sent a minister of their alliance party to jail. Thats why I call the Congress cheat." He added that the Congress runs the government by controlling the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Income Tax department.
