New Delhi: Amidst controversy over judicial activism, Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said on Saturday all three organs of the State—legislature, executive and judiciary—should work together.
"All the three organs should work together for the people," he told reporters in Parliament House after visiting the Parliament Museum and the Central Hall along with seven other Supreme Court judges and their spouses.
A string of judgements from the apex court, the latest being the ruling that the ninth schedule of the Constitution can be subjected to judicial scrutiny, has generated intense debate.
The Chief Justice was asked whether he felt that justice delayed was justice denied in the case of the families of victims of Parliament attack since the death sentence of one of the main accused has not been executed.
Balakrishnan, who saw the portraits of the Parliament martyrs, said, "I won't comment. It is pending," referring to the mercy petition of Mohammed Afzal pending before the President.
