Brussels: The EU anti-piracy military organisation - EU NAVFOR - has said that a Chinese bulk carrier was hijacked about 700 nautical miles off the east coast of Somalia in the Indian Ocean, Xinhua reported on Monday.
"On indication of an attack, an EU NAVFOR Maritime Patrol Aircraft, operating from the Seychelles, was launched to investigate the incident," the statement said.
The report quoting EU NAVFOR added that the carrier was not registered with the Maritime Security Centre, Horn of Africa.
