New Delhi: After the high of toppling home favourites New Zealand at the Fed Cup Asia-Oceania Zone qualifiers, came the low of the Indian eves being thrashed by a formidable Chinese Taipei to be knocked out of World Group contention.
Indian eves went down 0-3 to Taipei, which sees them lose their chance to vie for the World Group II playoffs in July.
Chinese Taipei, on the other hand, who have been undefeated at Christchurch, advance to play Thailand, the topper of pool 'A', in the finals on Saturday. The winner of the two teams will advance to the World Group II play off in July.
India will now fight for 3 to 10 place.
Sania Mirza's absence seemed to hurt the Indians the most in this particular encounter, as the eves were blanked.
