Chiranjeevi all set to launch political party

Hyderabad: Telugu actor turned politician Chiranjeevi has finally confirmed that he is launching his political party with the inauguration of his party office.

He will be announcing the party name in a public meeting scheduled on 26 August.

Chiranjeev confirmed this by saying, “I am entering politics. I have inaugurated my party office. In a couple of days i will announce the party name, agenda and everything else.”

Apparent animosity seems to be taking place between other political parties and Chiranjeevi over the biggest votebank which are the backward classes.

The Congress government is planning to introduce a bill for 33% reservations for BCs (backward classes) in the assembly.

The move is viewed by observers as a pre-emptive strike by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy to counter opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu's similar promise during his Mee Kosam Yatra.

However, both parties say they are not bothered by Chiranjeevi's move.

Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister, Raghuveera Reddy defended this by saying, “We're not worried about anybody's entry into politics. Anyone can enter. The congress is strong and confident, Y S Rajasekhar will come back as chief minister again.”

Rajya Sabha MP, Telegu Desam Party (TDP), Mysura Reddy also concurred saying, "Chiranjeevi does not pose any threat to us."

Now that the suspense is over, we will have to wait and see what the mega star's mega promises would be and whether he will be able to convince the people of Andhra Pradesh in the coming few months that he's the change they were looking for.
