Chiranjeevi escapes electrocution

Hyderabad: Politician and actor Chiranjeevi was almost electrocuted when electrical wires bust into flames over his head while he was campaigning for municipal elections in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Chiranjeevi, founder-president of Praja Rajyam Party, was traveling in an open-top truck when the vehicle passed under dangling wires. A party worker tried to lift the wires with a rod, sparking a shower of electrical sparks.

Chiranjeevi, who plays action heroes in his movies, ducked and saved himself. Some sparks fell on his shoulders.

Residents say the dangling wires have been a major threat for several days now and hope that at least this incident would make the authorities sit up and notice.
