New Delhi: Southern superstar Chiranjeevi's fans came out in lakhs to welcome him on to the political stage but are about to be saddened as he may quit films altogether to focus on his new work.
After enthralling audiences for three decades with his power punches and righteous image, Chiranjeevi or Chiru as he is popularly called by his fans, has a political career to talk of.
Going by the popularity the megastar enjoys, his fans are going to miss his screen life.
But many are also thrilled that the actor will be amongst them in flesh and blood. Andhra's other actors Balakrishna, Pawan Kalyan & Kalyan Ram switched to politics this year.
With popular actors opting for politics, the Telugu film industry or Tollywood is bracing itself up for their absence.
While producers remain optimistic about next gen actors, Chiranjeevi, who enjoyed the numero uno status for years says, "It's a little painful to say bye to cinema after so long but I think there is no number one. All are number one. Everybody will do their bit."
More than a 100 films old but Chiranjeevi's still going strong and that will help him in his political run.
Fans are upbeat and hope to see their favourite film star address their day-to-day issues.
Meanwhile, the star taking a new career route also the paves way for other actors to resume the fight for Tollywood's number one position.
