Hyderabad: Actor-politician Chiranjeevi has demanded the Government to confer Bharat Ratna on late prime minister PV Narasimha Rao.
“The economic reforms boldly initiated by him helped India march forward on the path of progress. The country has been able to compete with major countries since then,” the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief told reporters in Hyderabad.
“We have to introspect whether we are giving the respect and recognition that he truly deserves. On behalf of our Praja Rajyam Party and myself, we feel Bharat Ratna award should be given to him,” he said.
Chiranjeevi was speaking at the PV Gyan Bhoomi in Hyderabad after paying floral tributes to the former prime minister on the occasion of his 89th birth anniversary.
