Chittagong: Chittagong Kings registered their second consecutive victory in the Bangladesh Premier League by thrashing much-fancied Dhaka Gladiators by 54 runs on Saturday. Dhaka Gladiators's skipper Mohammad Ashraful opted to field and his bowlers' did a fine job by bowling Chittagong Kings out for 142 in 20 overs. Naeem Islam and Brendan Taylor scored 50 and 41 respectively while Ryan ten Doeschate unfurled a breezy 23 but no other batsmen could contribute anything of note. Alfonso Thomas was pick of the bowlers as he chalked up 2 for 11 in four overs.
Dhaka Gladiators were off to a disastrous start and slumped to 43 for 7 in 11.3 overs. Jacob Oran and Arafat Sunny conceded just 7 and 11 runs respectively in their four overs and picked up two wickets each. Asharful held one end doggedly and eked out 33 off 48 balls but his team could manage to muster 88 runs in 20 overs at the loss of eight wickets. The victory put Chittagong Kings at 3rd position in the points table.

In reply, Duronto Rajshahi lost their openers - Tamim Iqbal and Charles Coventry - early but Jahurul Islam (57 off 38 balls) cobbled together with Dilshan Munaweera and Sean Ervine to take his team near the taget but he fell in the 19th over to Mahmood. Duronto Rajshahi needed 10 runs in the last over and Shafiul Islam hit two boundaries to Mukhtar Ali to seal the match.
