New Delhi: Sanjeev Tyagi, alias Julie Tyagi, on Thursday broke his silence over the AgustaWestland chopper deal, saying the kickback allegations against him were malicious and baseless and denied any association with the defence sector.
Pointing that he knew middleman Carlo Gerosa since 1999, Tyagi claimed that his named was being dragged unnecessarily. "This is a case of bribing of Italian officials...it seems my name is being used since I know Carlo," said Tyagi, adding that his association with the alleged middleman was a business relationship.
He further said, "The allegations are a total big lie. I had nothing to do with AgustaWestland, I was not on talking terms with SP Tyagi from 1999 to 2007 so there's no question of approaching me."
Welcoming the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the case, Tyagi said, "I am very hurt, I welcome any probe that government brings, our accounts are open for scrutiny."
