Cit Journo Smriti salaams Mumbai

Mumbai: After actress Raveena Tandon, citizen journalist and actress Smriti Irani spoke about the difference between the deluge this year and last year.

She spoke about the undying spirit of Mumbaikars and how each and every individual can help in improving Mumbai’s conditions and make it a better place to live.

Smriti Irani salutes the city and the citizens

In the past few days I saw citizens of Mumbai voice their concerns about their city sinking via CNN-IBN. But I also saw BEST drivers working endlessly to ensure passenger safety and unlike 26/7, I did see police personnel on the roads.

This time there was a change and that change thankfully came about not only due to media intervention but also because citizens decided to take the initiative. However, my question is that do we need to wait till the next monsoon to question our government on the infrastructure.

My appeal to you is that be more involved with your city and your people. For a city that was unfortunately voted the rudest city in the world, I salute you because you showed your humane side this monsoon.

I only hope that the next monsoon brings with it joy and not fear of being stranded and waterlogged.
