City corporation honours farmers

The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation organised its Farmers’ Day celebration at RKD NSS Higher Secondary School, Sasthamangalam in association with Krishi Bhavan here on Friday. Panchayat Minister M K Muneer inaugurated the meet, which was presided over by Mayor K Chandrika. The Haritha Nagaram project of Krishi Bhavan was inaugurated by K Muraleedharan MLA on the occasion.

Floriculturist Saraswathi Varma, farmers Vikraman Nair, Vinod Kumar, Sadasivan, Vijayakumari and child farmer G S Vishnu of SMV School were felicitated at the function.

Corporation Deputy Mayor G Happykumar welcomed the gathering and G Suresh Kumar gave away the farm kits. Thachankode Manoharan Nair, who was selected as model farmer of Tholikode grama panchayat, was also felicitated by the Corporation. District Agriculture Officer G Shivandan and Agriculture Field Officer K Anitha also spoke.
