CJ appeals to rescue brother stuck in Libya

CNN-IBN

Mumbai: While Indians stranded in Libya make their journey home, citizen journalist Manoj Nayyar shares the plight his brother is in, stuck in a remote area in Libya.

He has appealed to the Government of India to rescue his brother Vinod who is stuck in Libya.

Vinod Nayyar has been working in J&P Construction Company, Libya for the last eight years. He last visited India in December. His wife Prasita is in India living with her in-laws. While Vinod has managed to call his family member couple of times, Manoj is not able to get through to him. His attempts to contact the Indian Embassy have also failed.

“My brother is stuck in an isolated place Ubari, 1500 kms aways from Tripoli and Benghazi from where evacuations are taking place. It will take him 15 hours to reach either of the evacuation sites,” said Manoj.

Due to the unrest the roads are unsafe and even then the embassy at Tripoli is refusing to arrange a flight from the nearest airport. “My brother and 400 of his Indian colleagues are stuck in their office camp without food and limited source of electricity and now they are running around to get a bus and a Libyan driver. We are extremely worried about him,” said Manoj.

The nearest airport from Ubari is Sabah. Manoj says it is his earnest request to the Indian Embassy and Shri SM Krishna to arrange for evacuation from Sabah immediately and bring back his brother and 400 other Indians safely.
