CHENNAI: Students of BSc Hospitality and Hotel Administration, SRM IHM (NCHMTC), participated in a Clean India Campaign at a beach in Mahabalipuram, which was launched by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India earlier this year. The students visited popular tourist spots in and around Mahabalipuram such as the Shore Temple and the TTDC beach. They selected spots where tourists usually leave behind waste such as polythene bags and other non biodegradable materials.
The students collected the waste from these spots and also spread awareness among visitors about the Clean India Campaign.
Cities in countries like Singapore and Malaysia, though geographically small, do not compromise on cleanliness, thereby attracting tourists from all over the world. By promoting a cleaner India through this campaign, the government is hoping to attract and welcome more tourists from all over the world.
