Ahmedabad: Narendra Modi is leading the Gujarat local body polls, following his sweep of the civic elections. However, the counting of votes is still on at the moment.
Out of the total 24 district Panchayats, BJP has won 12 while the Congress has bagged two seats so far. Out of 53 Nagra aplika seats BJP has won 23 and Congress has manaaged to bag five.
Senior BJP leader and spokesperson Nirmala Seetharaman said, “BJP’s clean sweep in the Gujarat polls is a message to the Congress.”
BJP is leading in 22 while the Congress is leading in two with over 17,000 candidates in the fray. BJP is leading at the moment in most of the seats except Gandhinagar, which traditionally has been with the Congress.
