New Delhi: Fifteen days after the special cell encounter in Delhi's Jamia Nagar, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh visited Batla house, demanding a judicial probe into the police encounter with alleged terrorists.

But while the SP leader cast doubts on the face of it, he was also quick to hand out a cheque to M C Sharma's family - the highly decorated inspector who lost his life in the operation. It is a gesture that the family has rejected.

MC Sharma's father, Narottam Sharma said, "He (Amar Singh) is a leader and he is talking such nonsense. We were given money by him but we are not accepting it. We are very disappointed with his comments."

Quick to realise his political faux pas, Singh tried to clarify his stand saying doubts on the credibility of the operation came only because of the position of the slain inspector MC Sharma at the time of the encounter.

"Whoever the inspector is who has died in the encounter, he is a martyr - whether he has been killed by the terrorist or by the police personals - but the doubt that has risen is that he was removed from his post before the encounter," Amar Singh had hastily clarified.

But the Delhi Police stood by their inspector.

PRO Delhi Police, Rajan Bhagat said, "MC Sharma has never been transferred from the Special Cell and when he went for this operation, he went as a member of the Special Cell."

In a report submitted on Monday evening, the National Minorities Commssion said that the Delhi Police's investigation into the serial blasts is prejudiced.

"You cant have prejudice against any community. If you have already made up your mind that the needle of suspicion points towards a particular community, you'll never reach the truth," the report stated.

Meanwhile, the police remand for all the five accused in the serial blasts has been extended by 12 more days.
