New Delhi: Parliament proceedings were disrupted again on Thursday following protests by BJP and Samajwadi Party MPs.
This time, the Lok Sabha adjourned till Friday over Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit's remarks on Wednesday.
MPs shouted slogans against the Chief Minister's remark on the presence of people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in New Delhi.
This, despite the Speaker pointing out that Sheila Dikshit had apologised for her remarks.
The Rajya Sabha has also been adjourned till 1400 hrs IST. The Delhi Chief Minister had said on Wednesday that migrants from UP, Bihar and other states added 5 lakhs to Delhi's population every year.
"Delhi is regarded as the happiest of all places. People from UP, Bihar and other states come to here. What can I do? There is no law against migration. They come here to earn their living," she had said.
She later clarified that she had no intention of hurting the feelings of migrants coming to Delhi.
"This is totally wrong, I deny this. What I said is that more than 5 lakh people from UP, Bihar and other states migrate into Delhi and therefore we need better facilities," she stated.
