New Delhi: The CBI has submitted a report on the citizenship of controversial Assam MP, Moni Kumar Subba to the Supreme Court.
CNN-IBN had first showed documents indicating he had escaped from Nepal to steer clear of murder charges.
CBI has filed it's investigation report before Supreme Court on Monday.
The report, which was in a sealed envelope, was placed before a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan.
The CNN-IBN Special Investigation Team (SIT) had first reported that Moni Kumar Subba, a lottery baron from Assam, was a Nepalese murder convict who had escaped to India.
The SIT Also he changed his name from Mani Raj Limbo to Moni Kumar Subba after fleeing from Nepal. The MP, however, claims that he was born in Darjeeling and his parents migrated from Sikkim.
After the Subba report was aired, the CBI officially requested CNN-IBN for evidence collected and based on this, the investigating agency had started its probe.
