New Delhi: North India is still enveloped by the cold wave. The region shivered under intense cold wave conditions on Wednesday with a freezing temperature.
Delhi woke up to another chilly morning with a minimum of three degrees.
Some areas in Punjab registered a minimum temperature of zero degrees Celsius. Adampur reeled under piercing cold as mercury dropped to minus 3.6 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Kashmir valley continues to reel under cold wave conditions for the last few days with mercury dipping to sub-zero temperature during Tuesday night.
People of Kashmir woke up to -3.2 degrees on Wednesday morning, but the good thing about that is that it was not as cold as it was about three weeks back, when the mercury had dipped to -7.4.
On Tuesday, Srinagar’s temperature was -5.4 degrees and fresh snowfall had taken place about two days ago.
Water taps are running dry as the water has frozen and there are huge electric curtailments, which is making life very difficult for the people.
The weather forecast says rain or snow is likely to occur at few places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradeh, Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh.
However, National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) said that western disturbance is expected to affect the Himalayan region and adjoining plains in another 24 hours and due to Wednesday night temperatures are likely to increase during next two-three days.
