New Delhi It's been nearly seven years since their last musical collaboration. But music buffs can now look forward to what would be a reunion of two extremely gifted and popular music makers.
Ghazal and contemporary singer Hariharan and musician-producer Leslie Lewis, have decided to join hands again for a new Colonial Cousins album. At an event in the city last evening, Hariharan revealed his plans, adding, "It will definitely have the Colonial Cousins sound, with bits of the past, present and future".
The duo shot to fame in the 90's with fusion numbers like Krishna and Sa Ni Dha Pa Ma. The Colonial Cousins-sound was a mellifluous blend of Indian classical, folk and western beats. Hariharan's baritone and Lewis' support with various musical instruments made the songs nationwide hits.
After their last successful outing together in 2000, both have been concentrating on their individual projects. One does not really know why the two did not collaborate after that, but Hariharan rubbishes rumours of any acrimony with his musical partner.
"We had never split," declared the singer. "We just thought it was not musically conducive to come out with a fusion album all this while."
The new album will hit stores later this year.
