Mumbai: Actress Shilpa Shetty has been off the radar for a while, but she is now preparing for her new film The Desire, an Indo-Chinese project.
The film which also stars Jaya Prada and Anupam Kher, Shilpa plays Goutomi, an accomplished Odissi dancer, who falls in love with a talented artist played by Chinese actor Xia Yu, during a tour.
"This is the first time a Chinese actor has been paired against an Indian actress. So I was really excited about this when I heard the script," said Shilpa.
But Shilpa who is an accomplished dancer, had to relearn her moves for her role as an Odissi dancer.
"I had to unlearn all my Bharatnatyam and learn Odissi. So the dance was challenging as they are both very different dance forms," said Shilpa.
And the usually glamourous Shilpa has done the unthinkable in this film - she sports a bald look for her role.
"I didn't really have to shed my hair, it was all cosmetically done but that is the USP of the film," she explained.
When asked if she would actually let go of her lovely locks for a film, Shilpa said, "If the character demanded it I would go bald, but being a brand ambassador of a shampoo I cannot go bald."
