New Delhi: Ethnicity blending with modern living - this describes flats the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will provide tourists with during the Commonwealth Games 2010. Fully-furnished with exquisitely done up interiors by the ITDC, 2,709 such flats will be in the offing at Vasant Kunj.

Available in variants of one, two and three bedroom apartments, the flats will be ready to move in by March 2010.

Director ITDC, Rajeev Makin, "Tourists will have to pay around Rs 4,000 per room per day. We are also planning to have a 24-hour food court there."

The furnishing of all the DDA flats at Vasant Kunj will cost ITDC approximately Rs 100 crore and will give these flats a three-star look. They will be sold-off to the general public after the games get over.

The rates of these flats haven't been decided yet but DDA and ITDC hope to make them as reasonable as possible.

The DDA has also constructed 470 flats at Jasola for domestic budget tourists. Another 1,000 flats are being built at the Games Village by Emaar MGF exclusively for participating athletes. These will all possess state of the art facilities - marble and wooden flooring, opulent sanitary fixtures and modular kitchens.

The builders plan to sell these flats after the games at a whopping cost of Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore.
